ATTENTION DEADLINE APRIL 27TH:
Your government needs to hear from you! Please read carefully!

In June 2022, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) announced it would review the agency’s Statistical Policy Directive No. 15: Standards for Maintaining, Collecting, and Presenting Federal Data on Race and Ethnicity (SPD 15). This directive provides minimum standards that ensure the federal government’s ability to accurately compare race and ethnicity information and data across agencies, as well as helps them understand how well federal programs serve a diverse America.

The OMB’s Working Group evaluated:

Minimum Reporting Categories
Whether the minimum reporting categories should be changed and how to best address detailed race and ethnicity groups in the standards.

Updating Questions
Whether updates should be made to the question format, terminology, and wording of the questions, as well as the instructions for respondents and associated guidance.

Improving Collection & Reporting
Whether guidance for the collection and reporting of race and ethnicity data can be improved, including in instances when self-identification is not possible.

Since 2018, the American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) movement has been advocating for a specific ethnicity based on our lineage. In support of this aim—as well as a federal reparations program and a political agenda for Black Americans—we created the ADOS Advocacy Foundation. Our foundation has already presented to the OMBNow we need you to do the same. In January 2023, the OMB began asking for public input about their suggestions for SPD 15. Our preferred ethnicity, American Descendants of Slavery, is being considered. However, it will not be used unless the OMB can identify a broader public desire for the designation.

Trainings will be postponed until further notice. Thank you for your participation.
